Karen Buck - Patron

We are pleased to announce that Karen Buck has become a patron of the Daniel Omari Smith Trust. We would like to thank Karen for supporting us and for her help in extending the reach and the work of the Trust.

Biography

Karen Buck

Karen Buck is the Labour Member of Parliament for Westminster North and PPS to Ed Miliband the Leader of the Opposition.

She served as Member of Parliament for Regent's Park and Kensington North (Central London) between 1997 and 2010. 

Karen was Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department of Transport from May 2005 - March 2006.

Amongst the positions of responsibility that Karen has held are: Regional Assistant to the Minister for London; a member of the Select Committee for Home Affairs; and a member of the Select Committee for Children, Schools and Families.

Karen was also named Child Poverty Action Group's MP of the Year in recognition of her work to alleviate conditions of young families living in poverty.

Before entering parliament Karen studied at the London School of Economics before going on to work for a charity specialising in employment for disabled people and later in the same field at the London Borough of Hackney.
